Waterway: Government Extends Toll Discount on the Santa Fe–Confluencia Section | Trade News | 11/05/26

The General Ports Administration (AGP) officially extended once again the toll discount for the northern section of the Main Navigable Waterway (VNT) between Santa Fe and Confluencia, maintaining until June 30, 2026 the reduced rate of US$1.30 per net registered ton (NRT) for international transport through Resolution 70/2026. The measure is based on the institutional transition resulting from the creation of the National Ports and Navigation Agency (ANPYN), which has delayed the establishment of the technical working group responsible for evaluating the fairness of the final tariff originally set at US$1.47, while legal disputes and claims from users and payers continue. Since 2023, the toll system for the northern section of the waterway has operated under successive discounts ranging from US$0.80 to the current level, as part of an official strategy of “graduality and reasonableness” aimed at progressively converging toward a definitive tariff without abruptly affecting the region’s logistics competitiveness.
