Still Analog: Nearly 87% of Argentina’s Road Freight Companies Operate Without Digital Systems – Trade News | 27/06/26

According to the fourth edition of the Transport Digitalization Index (IDT) 2026, conducted by Avancargo based on a survey of 378 companies, 86.5% of Argentina’s road freight operators still manage their daily operations without using any digital systems. The report highlights a significant technological gap between the freight transport sector and other industries, such as agriculture and finance, which have made substantial progress in digital adoption. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) remains particularly limited: only 4.2% of transport companies have integrated AI into their operations, while the remaining 95.8% lack the minimum digital data infrastructure required to support predictive analytics. As a result, most companies continue coordinating freight movements, rates, and routes through Excel spreadsheets and WhatsApp messages, despite growing demands from shippers for traceability and more sophisticated logistics platforms. According to Diego Bertezzolo, this lack of digitalization creates hidden operational costs—including longer coordination times, avoidable delays, manual paperwork, and reduced competitiveness—making road freight transport the primary bottleneck in an increasingly digitalized supply chain.
