Argentine Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno and U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau formally launched the Andes-Atlantic Corridor, a bilateral initiative aimed at modernizing the logistics infrastructure connecting Argentina’s economic sectors with Atlantic ports and Western markets. The goal is to consolidate a long-term strategic partnership capable of mobilizing public and private investment to increase mineral, gas and oil exports, through Washington-backed financing for transportation and energy infrastructure while prioritizing systems with high cybersecurity standards. The roadmap is structured around four areas: in transportation, identifying priority projects to expand and rehabilitate railways, ports and waterways, creating opportunities for U.S. companies to participate directly in tenders or as subcontractors; in energy, channeling direct loans, guarantees and insurance products toward Vaca Muerta to mobilize U.S. capital, technology and service providers; in critical minerals, promoting processing and diversifying supply chains under the existing Framework Agreement between the two countries; and in the digital sector, cooperating on secure platforms and inspection equipment for customs operations, in line with the Reciprocal Trade and Investment Agreement. The projects will depend on credit instruments and technical assistance provided by U.S. federal agencies such as DFC, Exim Bank and USTDA, alongside private-sector investment, while Argentina will be required to continue strengthening its regulatory environment and investment protections through predictable and transparent frameworks for future infrastructure concessions. The Andes-Atlantic Corridor will also be integrated into the G7 Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment, following the model of strategic routes such as the India-Middle East-Europe and Lobito corridors, with the U.S. objective of strengthening its global supply chains.
