The Argentine Freight Transport Entities Federation (FADEEAC) reported that its Transport Cost Index (ICT) increased by 3.27 % in October, bringing the year-to-date rise to 30.5 % and the year-on-year increase to 35.4 %. The cost surge has accelerated since July and is mainly driven by increases in Financing Costs (+10.36 %), Insurance (+5.51 %) and Lubricants (+5.5 %) in October, along with notable rises in Tyres (+3.83 %) and Fuel (+3.10 %) —the latter up 21 % since June. At the same time, the freight sector’s activity is showing signs of decline: diesel consumption, a key transport indicator, fell by 5 % year-to-date compared with the same period in 2024.
