The Argentine government has extended the 0 % export duty rate for certain steel and aluminium products destined for countries imposing import tariffs of 45 % or higher until 31 March 2026, via Decree 930/2025 published in the Official Gazette. The extension aims to preserve the competitiveness of national shipments in the face of significant trade barriers and protect export flows to destinations like the United States and other protectionist markets by countering the combined effect of domestic taxes and high external tariffs. For logistics and foreign trade, the extension ensures the continuity of industrial cargo flows, particularly through ports such as Puerto Madryn (aluminium) and the Paraná steel corridor, avoiding a likely drop in shipments if full duties had been reinstated at the start of 2026.
