Entre Ríos Promotes Port and Logistics Plan to Capitalize on Its Integration into the Waterway – Argenports | 15/10/26
The government of Entre Ríos presented a series of river and port infrastructure studies and signed an agreement with the Federal Investment Council (CFI) to develop a strategic investment plan aimed at capitalizing on its integration into the waterway, improving the competitiveness of provincial production and strengthening connections between ports, roads and railways. The initiative was presented on October 14 in Paraná by Governor Rogelio Frigerio and CFI Secretary General Ignacio Lamothe, with representatives from the productive sector, universities and local authorities in attendance. One of the main developments is the inclusion of the Bravo–Guazú–Talavera river system in the Main Navigable Waterway tender, supported by technical studies that provided the necessary justification for its incorporation within the deadlines of the national bidding process. The province presented three studies prepared in collaboration with the National University of the Littoral, examining navigation alternatives, riverbed characteristics along the Paraná Bravo, Paraná Guazú and Talavera rivers, and access to the ports of Ibicuy, Diamante and La Paz. The project also considers the potential of Concepción del Uruguay and seeks to integrate river transportation with railway infrastructure, roads and rural routes to reduce logistical constraints and facilitate market access. Under the agreement, a technical team will identify infrastructure needs, establish investment priorities and transform the findings into a portfolio of investment projects. At this stage, no overall budget or construction schedule has been announced, as the initiative remains in the planning phase. Separately, Frigerio highlighted that Entre Ríos has accumulated nearly ARS 50 billion in credit applications to the CFI for the productive sector, an amount unrelated to the port development plan's budget, and stated that the province has secured the highest level of financing through the organization. The broader objective is to transform Entre Ríos’ strategic location and river infrastructure into opportunities for economic development, new private investment and greater logistics integration.
