Customs Guarantee Release for Missing Certificates of Origin Goes Digita – Trade News | 09/08/26

Argentina’s Customs Collection and Control Agency (ARCA) has launched a new digital procedure for requesting the release of guarantees posted due to a missing certificate of origin through the Digital Certificate of Origin (COD), replacing the previous paper-based process with a fully digital procedure through the Customs Procedures Information System (SITA). Importers or customs brokers must use the “Digital Certificate of Origin Submission” option and provide the customs destination identifier, the items involved and the applicable COD numbers. The system allows operators to release guarantees related to both “Missing Mercosur Certificate of Origin” (FCEO) and associated “Automatic Fines” (MUAU). Customs authorities will then verify whether the COD meets the origin requirements of the applicable agreement and approve or reject the request, with the result communicated electronically through the Customs Electronic Communication and Notification System (SICNEA). The measure, effective since July 27, 2026, is intended to simplify the procedure and reduce processing times for foreign trade operators. Link to Article
