Argentina's May Trade Surplus More Than Four Times Lower Than in 2024 - Trade News | 20/06/25

In May 2025, Argentina posted a US$608 million trade surplus, sharply down from the US$2.654 billion surplus recorded in May 2024—a decline of over fourfold. The drop was driven by a 7.4% year-over-year decrease in exports (US$7.095 billion) and a 29.4% rise in imports (US$6.488 billion). Despite maintaining an 18-month streak of surpluses, structural imbalances persist, notably a US$844 million deficit in the automotive sector and a US$237 million surplus in energy, reflecting a broader slowdown in Argentina's export performance. Link
