A study by the Argentine Institute of Fiscal Analysis (Iaraf) shows that an average Argentine SME faces at least 37 different taxes and 30 withholding, perception and reporting regimes over the course of a year, amounting to at least 67 fiscal and administrative obligations affecting its routine operations. The survey highlights the number and variety of levies a typical company —structured as an SRL with its own establishment, vehicles, employees, utilities, imported inputs and partial exports— must manage at the national, provincial and municipal levels, including taxes like VAT, Income Tax, Gross Income Tax, municipal rates and import/export duties, without measuring the monetary burden of each, but clearly showing the high tax complexity for small and medium-sized Argentine businesses.
