Amid peak activity during the main harvest season, the Argentine government —through SENASA— and the export sector agreed to implement a series of operational changes to streamline port operations and reduce delays in vessel loading, in response to growing pressure on the logistics system. The initiative brings together key stakeholders including exporters, port terminals, logistics operators, and the Shipping Center, aiming to identify bottlenecks and optimize sanitary control and certification processes while maintaining technical rigor but reducing turnaround times. Critical issues include lack of coordination between inspections, overlapping controls, and inefficient administrative processes, which generate idle time at berths and vessels waiting for loading, especially during periods of high truck inflow and operational concentration. In this context, efforts are focused on developing a more risk-based and segmented control system, improving synchronization of procedures such as hold certification, waste management, and arrival notifications, which would help accelerate vessel turnaround, reduce logistics costs, and sustain the competitiveness of Argentina’s agro-export sector during a key phase of the commercial calendar.
