Major Copper Deposit Discovery in Argentina: Largest in 30 Years - Revista NME | 08/05/25

Canadian mining company Lundin Mining, together with Australia's BHP through their joint venture Vicuña Corp., announced the discovery of the largest copper deposit in Argentina in the past 30 years, located at the Filo del Sol project in San Juan province. The site contains at least 13 million tons of copper, along with significant amounts of gold and silver. This find, considered one of the most important in undeveloped areas in recent decades, positions Argentina as a potential leader in the production of strategic minerals essential to the global energy transition. The project will require multi-billion-dollar investments and is expected to significantly boost the country's mining exports in the coming years. Link
