Government Deregulates Fuel Sales to Ships Operating in Argentine Ports – Argentports | 16/12/25

The national government removed restrictions on maritime fuel (bunker) supply for vessels operating in Argentine ports, allowing ships that load cargo to refuel freely in the country without the previous limits. The move is designed to enhance port competitiveness and streamline operations by encouraging greater competition among suppliers, reducing waiting times and preventing vessels from diverting to other regional ports with more attractive bunker conditions. By expanding the pool of authorised fuel suppliers, the deregulation seeks to lower logistical costs and provide greater operational predictability for shipping lines, port operators and exporters, strengthening Argentine ports’ role in foreign trade.
