Government clears firm GNL export contracts and paves the way for a multi-billion dollar megaproject - La Nación | 28/04/25

The Argentine government has authorised the signing of firm contracts for the export of liquefied natural gas (GNL), eliminating restrictions and allowing continuous sales without interruptions. The move benefits the mega-project led by Southern Energy, a company formed by Pan American Energy, Pampa Energía, YPF, Harbour Energy and Golar LNG, which plans to start exports from Vaca Muerta in 2027. The project includes the installation of the liquefaction vessel Hilli Episeyo in Río Negro, with an initial capacity of 2.45 million tonnes of LNG per year, and contemplates a total investment of at least $22 billion to develop additional infrastructure, including pipelines and treatment plants. This initiative seeks to position Argentina as a competitive global supplier of GNL. Link
