Freight Forwarders Confront the Boom in Door-to-Door Imports - Trade News | 11/06/25

In December 2024, the Argentine government relaxed the courier purchase regime, raising the shipment limit from US$1,000 to US$3,000 and exempting purchases under US$400 from import duties (only VAT applies), triggering a surge in personal door-to-door imports. At the start of 2025, record volumes were registered: 720,000 kg in January and 609,000 kg in February—the highest levels in the past six years. This boom is reshaping the logistics sector: while courier companies expand rapidly, traditional freight forwarders face the challenge of adapting to a new reality, where their role as specialized intermediaries is being bypassed by consumers now accessing imports directly.
