Argentina’s mining sector closed 2025 with a record USD 6.037 billion in exports, driven by high international prices for gold and silver, while lithium stood out with strong production and export growth. Lithium exports slightly exceeded USD 900 million in 2025, and are expected to comfortably surpass USD 1,000 million in 2026, placing them above several of the country’s traditional export complexes such as peanuts, steel, aluminum, and fruit products. This trajectory is supported by the recent rebound in global lithium prices —which surpassed USD 20,000 per tonne of lithium carbonate equivalent in China’s spot market— and the rising global demand for electric vehicle batteries.
