In Córdoba, the company Cadaf, led by Alfredo Abboud, exports over 30,000 tons annually of compacted alfalfa to demanding markets such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and China, anticipating a productive boom in Argentina’s interior. Abboud explained that the venture began in 2018 with logistic services and in 2021 constructed its plant in San Francisco, where they moved from 500-kg mega-bales to 900-kg ones to cut logistical costs. Alfalfa is exported because it delivers “pure protein and fibre in a single product,” essential for feeding bovine, equine, caprine and camelid livestock, and Argentina has prime soils to produce it. Córdoba province, with the right climate, foraging tradition, fertile soils and logistics infrastructure, is positioning itself as a new export hub of this “green gold”. Link to Article
