Argentina’s National Ports and Navigation Agency (ANPYN) has officially called a National and International Public Tender for the concession of the Paraguay–Paraná Waterway, with bids due by 13:00 on 27 February 2026 via the CONTRAT.AR portal. Established by Resolution 67/2025 in the Official Gazette, the tender approves terms for the modernisation, expansion, operation, signalling and dredging maintenance of the Trunk Navigable Waterway from km 1238 of the Paraná River to the Deep-Water Area of the Río de la Plata, covering channels such as Ingeniero Emilio Mitre and rivers including Paraná de las Palmas, Bravo, Guazú and Talavera — a corridor through which roughly 80% of Argentine exports move and nearly 60 port terminals operate. This new process replaces an earlier 2024 bid that was annulled in 2025 after only one offer, and incorporates an interdisciplinary dialogue table and technical inputs from UNCTAD to strengthen the tender documents.
