ANPYN intervenes in the Port of Ushuaia due to irregularities in the handling of funds – Argenports | 21/01/26

The National Agency of Ports and Navigation (ANPYN) has administratively intervened the Port of Ushuaia for 12 months after detecting irregularities in the handling of funds, budgetary deviations, and deficiencies affecting operational safety at the main maritime terminal in Tierra del Fuego. Official audits and inspections uncovered improper use of port budget, the absence of a reliable accounting system, and infrastructure issues that compromise mooring operations, alongside worker allegations of asset stripping and concerns from shipping companies. During the intervention —which may be extended— the aim is to restore financial traceability, normalize administrative management, and strengthen safety, with support from the Argentine Naval Prefecture, while local personnel continue technical duties until the situation is regularized.
